On Target: Profile 1
The Lockheed F-104 Starfighter, also known as the "manned missile," is the subject of the first ever publication by the Aviation Workshop.
On Target: Profile 2
There are not many fighters which achieve a legendary status in history but the P-51 Mustang is certainly one of the few exceptions. As the American-built equivalent to the Spitfire the Mustang was employed by a multitude of different air arms.
On Target: Profile 3
As one of the most successful British designs to date the BAe Hawk continues to pull its weight as a fast-jet trainer around the globe. With a vast number of air forces operating the type, some in the offensive role as well, this had to be the aircraft to fill the number three slot in the series.
On Target: Profile 4
This is one aeroplane that needs no introduction. The Spitfire is certainly one of the most famous fighters in history. This book tracks the progress of the aircraft in the European theatre from its earliest days as the Mk.I through to the introduction of the Mk.VI.
On Target: Profile 5
Following the relatively successful adaption of the RAF's Hurricane for the Fleet Air Arm the Admiralty next turned its attentions to the Spitfire. Its relatively narrow track undercarriage and tendency to suffer prop strikes on landing meant that until the Griffon engine was introduced on the Mk.XVII the renamed Seafire often caused more problems than it solved!
On Target: Profile 6
The F-86 Sabre simply has to be one of the most adored "classic jets" there is. It saw front-line service in all corners of the world and wore varied colour schemes in many different operational environments.
On Target: Profile 7
Fifty years of service by any aeroplane is a record that cannot be sniffed at but this particular aircraft has a little extra "va-va-voom!" The English Electric Canberra has seen so many variants and sub-types that even we have lost count!
On Target: Profile 8
If the Spitfire wasn't interesting enough already, just take a look at its many variants and guises when utilised in the photo-reconnaissance role. From the very earliest days of its military career the RAF realised its potential as a fast and capable PR platform and for that reason almost every mark of Spitfire thereafter had a photo-reconnaissance or fighter-reconnaissance variant.
On Target: Profile 9
Profile 9 is without doubt the largest and most comprehensive addition ever made to this series. The F/A-18 Hornet has developed in to one of the true "super stars" of modern aviation and is the premier strike asset of many air arms around the globe on land and at sea.
On Target: Profile 10
The SEPECAT Jaguar was born out of an Anglo-French agreement in the late 1960s to build an advanced strike and trainer aircraft. The first prototype, a French two-seater, flew in 1968. The Jaguar evolved to become an extremely versatile strike aircraft which has attracted sales from many foreign air forces.
On Target: Profile 11
The English Electric Canberra first flew on 13th May 1949 and is still active in some parts of the world today. On Target Profile 11 tracks this service from those early days right up to the retirement of the last RAF Canberra PR.9 in 2006.
On Target: Profile 12
On Target Profile 12 will feature the Hawker Hurricane in RAF and Commonwealth service. This highly successful British design gave sterling service during its career and the many schemes worn throughout have been beautifully detailed in this book.
